How I Became the Main Character—Without Instagram or Aesthetic Reels

A love letter to finding joy in everyday life.

Blog Introduction:

I don’t have Instagram.
I don’t spend hours scrolling through reels, nor do I live my life through filters or curated morning routines. I don’t post my coffee or record myself walking under golden light.

But something changed in me a few months ago—something I can’t entirely explain.
It started with a feeling, a need, a tiny rebellion against my autopilot existence.
I wanted more. Not material things, just… more presence. More emotion. More “me.”

That’s when I stumbled on a term from pop culture that stuck with me:
“Main Character Energy.”

What Does It Even Mean?

Main Character Energy isn’t about being dramatic or self-obsessed.
It’s not about being watched, filmed, or praised.

It’s about choosing to see your life as worthy of attention—even if no one else is watching.

It’s walking through your day like your story matters.
It’s sipping your tea slowly, as if it's a scene in a movie.
It’s listening to your favorite song and imagining you're on a journey.
It’s feeling emotions fully, even the inconvenient ones.

You become the central figure of your life, not an extra. And no, you don’t need an Instagram reel to prove it.

My Shift: From Background Noise to a Beautiful Soundtrack

Before this, my days were functional.

Wake up. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.
Productivity was king, and the idea of doing anything “just because it makes me happy” felt frivolous.

But slowly, I began introducing little moments that made me feel alive.

  • I started drinking coffee in a ceramic mug I used to reserve for guests.

  • I played instrumental piano in the background as I cooked.

  • I walked a little slower on my evening strolls, noticing the leaves, the smell of rain, the dogs on balconies.

  • I wrote letters to myself, like a narrator in a movie might journal their growth.

And I did it without sharing a single photo online.

Why It Works (Even Without Social Media)

There’s something profound about doing something beautiful without needing an audience.

You dress up for yourself.
You tidy your space because it feels good.
You sit at the window with a book because that’s what the main character would do in this moment of transition.

This mindset teaches you:

  • To romanticize the ordinary

  • To treat your time with reverence

  • To move through discomfort with courage

  • To find your own aesthetic, not one dictated by an app

The Subtle Psychology of Self-Awareness

Main Character Energy isn’t just feel-good fluff—it’s quietly therapeutic.

Psychologists call it cognitive reframing: looking at your circumstances through a more empowering lens.

You shift from,

“Ugh, another boring Monday,”
to
“Ah, the opening scene of my next chapter.”

From,

“Why is this happening to me?”
to
“This is the conflict that will lead to my growth.”

You stop waiting for someone to save you, and start acting like someone worth saving.

How You Can Try It—No Social Media Required

Here’s what worked for me. Maybe it’ll work for you too.

1. Give Your Day a Theme

Treat each day like a chapter in your story. Call it something fun:
“Fresh Start Friday” or “The Quiet Reset.”

2. Soundtrack Your Life

Play music that stirs something in you. Movie scores. Rain sounds. Old jazz.
Let it accompany you as you do laundry, answer emails, or cook dinner.

3. Take Solo Walks Without Distraction

No phone. No podcast. Just you. Let your thoughts wander.
Look up at the sky like it’s a metaphor. It usually is.

4. Talk to Yourself Like a Protagonist

When you mess up, say:
“It’s okay, she’s still learning.”
Not: “Ugh, I’m so stupid.”
Words shape storylines. Be kind to your character.

5. Do Something Just Because It’s Beautiful

Buy fresh flowers. Use the fancy cup. Light the candle.
You don’t need a reason. You are the reason.

Final Thoughts:

In a world that pressures us to “post or it didn’t happen,” I chose something quieter.
I chose to believe that my moments matter—even if no one ever sees them.

I am the writer, the lead, the music director, and the wardrobe stylist of my own life.
And I’ve never felt more alive.

No app. No filter. No hashtag.
Just me, romanticizing my life, one cup of tea at a time.

7 Hidden Costs Airlines Will Never Tell You

The Hidden Costs of “Special Airline Offers” — Are You Really Saving Money?

You’ve probably seen the flashy ads — “Fly anywhere for just ₹100!” or “Book now for ₹600 only!” Sounds tempting, right?

But how many times have you gone all the way to the payment page only to be shocked by the final amount? The fare that seemed like a steal suddenly jumps several thousand rupees higher. You’re left wondering — where did that amazing offer go?

Let’s break it down and uncover the hidden costs behind these seemingly irresistible airline deals. Spoiler alert: they’re not always what they seem.

1. Taxes, Charges & Surprise Fees

Remember the buzz around a popular airline offering tickets at ₹100 as part of their anniversary deal? Great marketing, but here’s the reality check: a flight from Mumbai to Delhi under this scheme ended up costing around ₹4,300 after adding fuel surcharges, insurance, convenience fees, and other mysterious add-ons.

Another “budget” airline advertised fares at ₹600, but a Delhi–Mumbai ticket? ₹3,800. Try flying farther, and you’ll pay even more. A one-way trip from Delhi to Chennai? ₹6,200. These “low-cost” tickets often cost more than regular ones when the fine print comes into play.

2. Popular Destinations Only

These deals are mostly limited to high-traffic routes. Planning to explore offbeat places like Guwahati? You’re out of luck. When we tried booking a ticket from Mumbai to Guwahati, the base fare was ₹2,300 — but after taxes and fuel surcharges, the price jumped to ₹6,000+. And no, we hadn’t added extra luggage yet!

3. The Luggage Trap

Think you’re all packed and ready? Think again. Most Indian airlines allow 15 kg of check-in baggage per person. Anything extra costs you — ₹150 to ₹400 per extra kilo. If you’re carrying a few extra outfits or gifts, you’ll end up paying a premium.

4. Seat Selection Now Comes with a Price Tag

Want that window seat or extra legroom? Prepare to shell out ₹500 or more. Gone are the days when choosing your seat was part of the ticket price. Now, unless you’re fine with a middle seat near the washroom, expect to pay for comfort.

5. Meals at 35,000 Feet — Not So Budget-Friendly

Hungry? Get ready to pay restaurant prices mid-air. A simple biryani on board can cost you ₹350–400. Add a drink, and you’re touching ₹500+. A tea with a cookie? ₹100. With most low-cost carriers, meals are not complimentary — so don’t forget to factor that into your “budget” ticket.

6. Late? You Might Just Lose Your Seat

Low-cost airlines are ruthless when it comes to timing. Check-in gates close 30 minutes before departure — no exceptions. If you miss it, your seat is gone and so is your money. No refunds. No partial credits. Just heartbreak.

7. Cancellations & Reschedules Can Cost a Bomb

Booked an offer ticket for your dream vacation months in advance? Great. But what if your boss denies your leave, or plans change?

Well, cancelling or rescheduling that ticket might cost you more than you think. Not only are the cancellation fees high, but in most cases, those special deals don’t carry over to rescheduled dates. You could end up paying way more than a regular ticket.

Final Boarding Call: Read the Fine Print

Airlines are experts at marketing — those offers are designed to get your attention. But as savvy travelers, we must read between the lines. From hidden fees to costly add-ons, that budget fare can easily become a premium expense.

So next time you’re tempted by an airline deal that sounds too good to be true, take a deep breath, scroll to the fine print, and do the math. Chances are, your “deal” might be just another cleverly disguised expense.

Have you ever fallen for one of these airline offers? Share your experience in the comments below!

From Shadows to Light: How Rashmi and the Women of Betkuchi Reclaimed Their Dignity

With pride shining in her eyes and a quiet smile playing on her lips, Rashmi accepts a ₹20 note from a customer—payment for a hand-poured candle she crafted with love. It’s a small amount by many standards, but for Rashmi, it holds the weight of freedom. Of dignity. Of a second chance.

Just eight months ago, Rashmi’s reality was a far cry from today. For nearly a decade, she walked what she calls the “path of shame”. She was a sex worker.

"My father died when I was six. He was an alcoholic, and when he passed, my mother had no clue how she would feed me and my younger brothers," Rashmi recalls. "We lived in a town where women had no work opportunities. With no other way to survive, my mother turned to prostitution. I grew up watching her, and before I even understood what was happening, I was pushed into the same life. But every day, I felt society looking down on me. I just wanted a way out.”

That lifeline came in the form of a local NGO—AIDS Prevention Society (APS)—that introduced Rashmi to a new path, one paved with self-worth, financial independence, and hope. Today, Rashmi is an entrepreneur, selling handmade candles and pottery at local markets.

But Rashmi is not alone.

She is one among hundreds of women in Betkuchi, a small town in eastern India long known as a red-light district. For years, prostitution was the primary livelihood here. The name Betkuchi evoked whispers, shame, and stigma. But thanks to APS and its transformative initiative, Project Sakhi, that narrative is changing—dramatically.

The Dawn of a New Beginning

Under Project Sakhi—‘Sakhi’ meaning ‘friend’ in Hindi—more than half the sex workers in Betkuchi have left the trade in the past two years. The project empowers them through self-help groups, training, and community support. These women are now engaged in income-generating activities like candle-making, pottery, file cover production, and detergent manufacturing.

Dr. Asif Ahmed, Director of APS and head of Project Sakhi, explains the intent behind the program:
“Most of these women were never in this profession by choice. Their lives were shaped by poverty, trauma, and lack of alternatives. They had little self-esteem, and for many, the idea of a different life was unimaginable. We knew we had to build more than just skills—we had to rebuild confidence and community.”

The first step? Health. APS began by educating sex workers about personal hygiene and the importance of early health intervention, especially in the context of HIV prevention. Gradually, the women began visiting health centres for counseling and care.

Then came the next phase—empowerment.

The NGO trained these women in vocational skills and helped form three self-help groups of 50 members each. Once their handmade products were ready, the women ventured into the markets—not as victims, but as businesswomen.

“Now I Work with Pride”

Munni (name changed), once a sex worker, now smiles as she counts her earnings:
“I used to make ₹800 to ₹1,000 a day in prostitution. Today, I earn ₹1,200 a day selling candles and detergent. But the real difference? Now, I sleep peacefully. I feel proud of what I do.”

Priyanka (name changed) chimes in:
“I’ve found more than income here. I’ve found respect—for myself and from others. We are no longer just sex workers. We are creators. Entrepreneurs. Changemakers.”

The pride in their voices is unmistakable. And infectious.

A Ripple Effect of Change

Project Sakhi's journey wasn’t without resistance. Convincing women to step out of the shadows took time, patience, and empathy. Many feared social rejection. Others doubted their abilities. But with consistent counseling, health support, and peer-to-peer education, they slowly began to believe in something they had never known: a life beyond survival—a life of purpose.

“Once they understood their own worth and began to see possibilities outside the trade,” Dr. Ahmed shares, “they themselves became ambassadors of change. The transformation was not just economic; it was emotional, psychological, and spiritual.”

Today, Betkuchi stands not just as a town that survived its past, but as one that rewrote it.

Lighting the Way for Others

With higher incomes, stronger health outcomes, and a renewed sense of purpose, the women of Betkuchi are now lighting the way for other small towns trapped in cycles of poverty and exploitation.

Rashmi, Munni, Priyanka—and so many others—are living proof that when opportunity meets compassion, change is inevitable. Their journey is a reminder that no past is too dark to keep out the light.

And it all begins with one small candle.

Robotics Process Automation (RPA) – A hype or a reality?

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) – A Hype or a Reality?

In the ever-evolving world of enterprise technology, few buzzwords have captured boardroom attention like Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Touted as the silver bullet for operational inefficiencies, RPA promised to reduce costs, improve productivity, and free up human workers from mundane, repetitive tasks.

But as we step deeper into 2022, the question lingers: Is RPA living up to the hype—or is it just another shiny object in the automation toolbox?

Understanding the Hype

The hype around RPA was loud and persuasive. By 2020, analysts from Gartner and Forrester predicted an explosion of RPA adoption across industries. The pitch was simple: let “bots” handle rule-based, repetitive tasks such as invoice processing, data entry, and compliance checks. In theory, this meant fewer human errors, 24/7 availability, and significant cost savings.

Vendors like UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and Blue Prism surged in popularity, attracting heavy VC funding and enterprise clients alike. The pandemic further accelerated RPA adoption as companies raced to digitize their operations amidst lockdowns and remote work.

By 2022, RPA was no longer a fringe experiment—it was on the strategic roadmap of nearly every large enterprise.

The Reality Check

However, the lived reality of RPA hasn't always matched the glossy slide decks.

While RPA delivers quick wins in well-defined, rule-based environments, its success is highly dependent on process maturity and IT infrastructure. Organizations that rushed into RPA without re-engineering their processes often found themselves managing fragile bots that broke every time a UI element changed.

Moreover, scaling RPA has proven difficult. A Deloitte report from late 2021 revealed that while 78% of businesses had initiated RPA pilots, only 3% had managed to scale them to a level of 50+ bots.

The result? Disillusionment in some quarters. Projects that were supposed to be “low-code, no-fuss” automation turned into heavy IT overheads.

So, Is RPA a Bust?

Not quite.

While the hype may have overpromised, RPA is very much a realitywhen applied strategically.

Industries like banking, insurance, telecom, and healthcare are seeing tangible results from RPA in areas like:

  • Claims processing

  • Customer onboarding

  • Report generation

  • Compliance documentation

What's more, RPA is now increasingly being integrated with AI and Machine Learning, giving rise to Intelligent Automation or Hyperautomation—where bots not only follow rules but also learn, analyze, and adapt.

For instance, bots that once required structured data can now leverage OCR and NLP to process semi-structured or unstructured information, opening the doors to broader applications.

What 2022 Teaches Us

As we sit in 2022, a few lessons around RPA have crystallized:

  1. RPA is not a magic wand – It won’t fix broken processes. Automating inefficiencies just makes them faster, not better.

  2. Process analysis is critical – Understanding and optimizing workflows before deploying bots increases success rates significantly.

  3. Citizen development is growing – With the rise of no-code/low-code tools, business users (not just IT) are beginning to deploy simple bots, democratizing automation.

  4. Integration is key – RPA works best when integrated with enterprise systems like ERP, CRM, and BPM tools, not as a patchwork workaround.

Looking Ahead

RPA, in 2022, has firmly crossed the "peak of inflated expectations" and is now maturing toward sustainable adoption. It’s no longer about whether to use RPA—but how, where, and with what supporting technologies.

For forward-looking enterprises, RPA is not the end—it’s the beginning of a broader automation-first mindset.

The bottom line? RPA is real. But like any powerful tool, it delivers only when wielded with purpose and precision.

Must Have qualities for a good leader

This is a part 1 of two-part series on Leadership Skills.

The next part will focus on ‘How to improve your leadership skills?’ What is the common and important trait between Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln that makes them a great leader?

Their empathetic attributes or their patience? Perhaps their listening skills? Of course all these. But if we ask you the most important trait, it would be to their ability to lead a team. Yes, having leadership skills not only helps in being a good manager but can help you in all aspects of your career. One of the many soft skills that employers value are leadership skills often incorporate with several different personality traits and communication abilities that are useful for anyone. Now first let’s get to the basics:

What are the leadership skills? Leadership skills are skills one uses when organizing other people to reach a shared goal. Whether you are in a management position or leading a project, leadership skills require you to motivate others to complete a series of tasks, often according to a schedule. Leadership is not just one skill but rather a combination of several different skills working together. Some examples of skills that make a strong leader include: Patience, Empathy, Active listening, Reliability, Dependability, Creativity, Positivity, Timely communication, Risk-taking, Ability to teach and mentor among others.

Why are leadership skills important? Effective leaders are essential to any organization. They can help build strong teams within a business and ensure projects, initiatives or other work functions are performed successfully. Because the skills of a leader involve multiple interpersonal and communication skills, anyone can exercise and hone their leadership abilities. Many people have seen the results of both effective and ineffective leaders on the job. Good leaders increase employee engagement, support a positive environment and help remove obstacles for their team. Good leadership is also contagious, inspiring colleagues to apply positive leadership traits in their own work.

Let’s talk about some of the must-have leadership skills that may prove valuable to your career.

1. Decisiveness: Effective leaders are those who can make decisions quickly with the information they have. Effective decision-making comes with time and experience. As you become more familiar with your specific industry, you will be able to make decisions faster, even when you don’t have all of the necessary information. Decisiveness is seen as a valuable leadership skill because it can help move projects along faster and improve efficiency.

2. Integrity: Integrity is often seen as just truthfulness or honesty but in many cases, it also means having and standing by a set of strong values. Integrity in the workplace often means being able to make ethical choices and helping the company maintain a positive image. All businesses seek to hire workers who have a strong sense of integrity.
3. Relationship building or team building: Leadership requires the ability to build and maintain a strong and collaborative team of individuals working toward the same goal. Team building requires other leadership strengths, like effective communication skills and conflict resolution.

 4. Problem-solving: If you are a leader who is in a management position or leading a project, one of the must-have skills is having the ability to solve problems. Good leaders are skilled at problem-solving issues that arise on the job. Effective problem solving often requires staying calm and identifying a step-by-step solution. Problem-solving skills can help leaders make quick decisions, resolve obstacles with their team and external teams alike, and ensure projects are completed on time.

5. Dependability: While working as a team, dependability is a non-compromising factor. Being a dependable leader means that people can trust and rely on you. A dependable person follows through on plans and keeps promises. The strong relationships built by a dependable leader create a resilient team that is able to work through difficulties that may arise.

6. Ability to teach and mentor: Another important skill that differentiates leadership from many other competencies is the ability to teach and mentor. Effectively teaching colleagues or direct reports on how to grow in their careers help organizations scale. Often, this skill requires that leaders think less about themselves and more about how to make their team as a whole successful. So here you are top traits that are important to be a good leader. Our next part series will talk about how to improve those leadership skills. Till then... Stay tuned.

Why a website is important for the business?

In today’s world, where one cannot exit the realm of digital world -a website- however big or small, is a necessity. Be it from the perspective of building a reputation of the company, or implementing a marketing and sales strategy, a company will lose huge opportunities if it does not have a digital presence in the form of a website. A website provides a company a far wider and cheaper reach to its customers than any form of other marketing and advertising tools. Company’s websites usually provide reviews and feedback for customers, builds trust and better relationships, increase customer base and most importantly influences a buyer’s decision to own its product and services. Truly, with a website a company can do anything or go anywhere it wants. The whole world can be its stage.

Here we list down six reasons why a website should be an integral part of any organisation:

1) Cost Effective: Every company looks for ways to save money in their advertising budget and marketing strategies. Having a company’s website is one of the most effective ways to cut down on the publicity expenses. A potential customer can reach out directly on the website, have up-to-date information about its products and services and get instant updates about the company. For example, if there is any change in a company’s product or in the organisational structure, updates can be instant and saves the cost of printing material like leaflets and pamphlets or expensive advertisements in newspapers and billboards. Demo videos can be provided on a website for the products and printed materials can be made available for instant download through the website.

 2)  Gives visibility: Another important reason to design a website is to have ownership and give visibility to the company. People might have heard about the company, but if they want to know more about the product and the services it offers, the first thing they do is research online.  Even if people have heard about the company, they might want more information to get the best from the product. People want to make sure that they are utilizing their time and money in the right way before entertaining the idea of leaving the comfort of their homes. A well-designed website, therefore, gives more visibility to the company and its products and help buyers make informed decisions.

3) Helps to build reputation: Credibility is another factor that helps to build a company’s reputation. A website which talk about its product, has reviews of customers on its site can go a long way to establish a brand reputation and trust. If  a company does not have a website that people can refer to and/or rely on user’s feedback to check about their products online, chances are that the customers are going to assume that it is a small company and does not take its product seriously.

4) Accessibility to products 24*7: A website is like having an “efficient employee” who works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. This "employee" is available from anywhere in the world and can serve multiple places and people, delivering the same exact information every time. For example, any individual who has made up his mind to buy a particular service or product from a company does not have to wait for the official working hours of the company but can rather have information in an instant from anywhere in the world and buy its service or product almost immediately.

5)  Wider audience reach:  With the easy accessibility of a mobile phone and internet, a company’s business can reach to a wider geographic area. By getting a website it makes it possible for anyone in the world to find information about the service and products from anywhere in the world. If the company owns a product that can be sold online it can dramatically increase the customer base all over the world. Taking the business online allows a company to diversify markets.

 6)  Improves customers experience:  One of the most determining factors that makes a buyer decide to invest in a company’s product and services is the experience he will have while deciding on the product and a website can make a huge different to that. Website, through its instant messaging or feedback form can targets each visitor individually and caters to its needs exclusively. For example, if a potential buyer has a specify question about the company’s product and service, he can get instant feedback and advice through the services offered from the website. However, the buyer’s journey does not stop after purchasing a product. After-sale service goes a long way in determining to have a lasting impression about the company and here too the portal can play a huge role. If the company provide information or support through the portal that makes them happier, it strengthens the business of the organisation.
